The trip will be May 10-20, 2013 in Mpumalanga, South Africa.
We bring with us a huge mobile clinic, with over $100,000 in medications, surgical equipment, and supplies. We give everyone free medical exams, treatments, dental care, glasses, any needed medication up to a year's supply, and minor surgeries. Many of the children have parasitic infections that can be cured with one pill, but without our help they would never be able to afford it. A big part of the clinic is teaching the people about sanitation, how to avoid transmission of HIV, and much more.
The clinic is located in a large church building that Seacoast helped build. Our clinic will be held all day Monday - Friday.
Team Members are made up of MUSC students who are studying to be Physical Therapists and Physician Assistants. We will have a dentist and other providers on our team. There are also non-medical team members who will help with basic clinic needs like taking blood pressure and weighing patients. Each team member and task is important, the best thing is that we get to talk and pray with our patients as we treat them.
