Second Clinic Day

Today we saw a record numbers of patients!! We arrived to the clinic to see a line already outside the church. By the day's end, almost 300 patients were seen! We had numerous salvations as well, including several people that were also diagnosed HIV positive. Angels were all around the clinic today and we are so excited to be part of God's movement.

Hi guys!  It’s Jane.  Second day of clinic was full and awesome with a smooth running clinic and many beautiful African people.  Lives were changed and the team members were loved by the patients and given wonderful opportunities to serve.  I will never forget the little lady in the beautiful yellow dress, who after her time in triage with me gave me a huge long hug that was topped with a long sloppy kiss and licking of the face.  It was a kind but shocking experience, and after she left, my teammate Wayne walked over with a sterile wipe, and verified that it was a facial lick of appreciation.   Our team members truly take care of one another!  Other adventures include a rhino scare while ATV cruising through some of the most beautiful  land  I have ever seen and a  snake scare at the front door of our “ hut”,  but the adventures of service,  praying, and sharing God’s love , and the hugs and love of the African people are truly a breathtaking and amazing blessing.

  1. Hi Shan,
It was great to see a picture of you on the website, it looks like so many awesome things have been going on. What a cool picture of that line, so neat that so many are being seen.
Thanks for your note, I got it in the mail yesterday. The flight went pretty well today. Our formation partner had an issue with their jet so we didn't get to do as much training today. I got to taxi around a bit and did some touch and goes. The winds were pretty gusty and turbulent, but we managed to get a few touch and goes in. I really like the KC10, its a fun plane to fly. Its a little old school in some regards, but it flies really well.
I miss you and can't wait to see you and hear all of your stories!

  3. Awesome to hear of all the things God is doing in and through you guys. As I have read your blog I am reminded of Matthew 25:40 - Truly I tell you, whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me. Proud of what you all are doing. Wayne, we'll keep our eyes on your house for you. Can't wait to hear about the trip when you return!

  5. Hola mi amigos! Oh, crap...wrong continent. Sanibonani! Ninjani?

Though most of you don't know me I've been to South Africa 3 times before and am extremely sad not to be a part of your team this year. However, I'm so glad I'm able to follow everything you're doing with this blog. I know that the short notes you write are only a miniscule portion of what God is doing in and through you all.

For those who are new to the trip I thought I'd share some useful information:
    1) Anthony and Jessica will ALWAYS have more comments than you. Just get over it. They have amazing family and friends, yes, but also have a rebate program where they give kickbacks at the end of the trip based on the amount of comments received.
    2) Amanda will have a South African accent for the entire trip. Not much you can do about that. Oddly enough it's neither Zulu nor Africans...it's just...something.
    3) Pastor Darrell and Beth are freaking amazing. 'nuff said.
    4) Make Micah tell you about Pastor Darrell and the "nippers"...
    5) Take a look out the bus (because I'm guessing you're reading these on the way to clinic) and take a mental picture of how gorgeous the landscape is because your pictures will never do it justice. I don't know what it is about that land but God did something special there.

Hope that helps you better understand South Africa. Love you all!!

  9. Hi Anthony and Jessica-

I pray you guys are doing well. I'm sorry I haven't posted since Sunday. I've been having computer issues.

It feels strange being at home this evening with no place I have to be. I should be relaxing and enjoying it, but I am bouncing off of the ceilings. Not use to this!

Smokie sends her love. She has asked me everyday who is taking care of Miho. It really bothers her that I don't know.

It has been a busy week and an unbelievable day. It has been in the 80's today. I turned on the AC upstairs this morning. Just came upstairs. it is hot up here! Guess I need to have the HVAC serviced.

I very very seldom eat beef. This week Food Lion is running a special on Chuck Eye steaks. I asked the butcher what a chuck eye steak is. he told me it is the eye of the chuck. I asked him if it is a tough cut. He said when he prepares his it is not. That in itself should have been my answer. But no, I bought a pack. I cooked one of them on the Foreman grill for dinner tonight. After I poured out the glass of grape kool-aid I knocked over into my plate, I discovered my steak was indeed tough. (The kool-aid was really good too - I put lemon juice in it - yummy!) any way it washed all of the seasoning off of my steak and drenched my salad. I really didn't care for the grape flavor in the steak or the salad so I gave the steak to Smokie and dumped the salad. Smokie, looked at me, looked at the pieces of steak I had nicely cut up for her, ;looked back up at me and asked why I would give her something I wouldn't eat. She then walked away.

I showed a house today. I missed a step and fell down the stairs in the basement. I was wearing a skirt -- embarrassing! I broke a nail- darn! My knee hurts and is swollen - ouch! I think I am okay though. I will see how the knee feels tomorrow. Smokie has been very concerned though.

I am home alone and unsupervised! Not good! I think I'll move to Australia!
    t
Love you both. Continue to be a blessing to to others.
    Mom
