Meeting #3

The meeting started with a recap of fundraising plans and ideas.  Only one or two things are set in stone, but there were lots of good ideas discussed.  Check the fundraising link for more information about opportunities to contribute via local fundraising events.

As for needs, we had a win in that it looks like we are going to get some coffee for the trip; however, there is still lots to be done and we could really use a physician, dentist, or other type of provider to join us on this trip.

After committee updates, Pastor Roy spoke with us about evangelism.  He led us down the Romans Road (Romans 3:23, 6:23, 5:8, 10:9, 10:13, 5:1, and 8:1).  He then shared the four questions one should answer when giving their testimony.  These include:
1. What was your life like before Jesus?
2. How did you realize you needed Jesus?
3. How did you commit your life to Jesus?
4. What differences has Jesus made in your life?
He explained that the questions should be answered in sequential order, with each answer being a little longer, so that the majority and focus of the testimony is on how Jesus has impacted your life.  He then shared his testimony, followed by a few members of our group sharing as well.  It was a great lesson!

We will try to post fundraising events on the main page as they are confirmed, but be sure to check that link and thank you for your prayers and contributions!

First Wednesday Fundraiser

Fundraising.  Food.  Socializing.  Worship.  That's how our team spent their Wednesday night!  We were blessed to have a large turnout for the missions dinner before the First Wednesday service at the Long Point Seacoast Campus!  Thank you for all who came out to help us with our fundraising efforts!  Our team is knitting together and getting excited to love on our many patients in just a few months.  Please continue to keep our team's preparation in your prayers as well as the patients we will be ministering to!

2013 Mission Trip Meeting #2

We had our second mission trip meeting last Sunday, which allowed us to start getting into our committees and make plans for the trip.  All of the committees met and started planning how they are going to accomplish tasks.  Shannon provided a great presentation on spiritual warfare and reviewed a lot of what happens in Badplaas.  Amanda discussed fundraising opportunities, which includes first Wednesday dinner at main campus this coming Wednesday.  If you want to help contribute, come out to dinner at 5:30 on Wednesday.  I will try to post fundraising opportunities as they become available.

We also spent time organizing things that are needed for the trip.  We are also looking for a couple providers (eg, physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners) to join us on the trip, so if you know anyone who might be interested, get them in contact with us.  Other more specific needs are listed on the "Supplies Needed" page, but some important items include the following:
1. Medications
2. Medical supplies
3. Toys and sporting goods
4. Glasses (old glasses)

If you know anyone who can help, let us know.
