Tuesday in South Africa!

Throughout the week some team members have opted to go hunting.  The animal that is killed is paid for by the team member and given to the town for food.  After a hunter makes a kill the hunter is then decorated with the blood.  Gross, right?

As part of our children's ministry we have been creating fun keepsakes for the children, sing Christian songs, coloring pictures, and playing sports and games outside the clinic.

This young child was enjoying the soccer game conducted by our team members.

In the clinic we have seen over 400 people of all ages.  The next 3 days promise to show much larger numbers.

Our team has also taken on a contruction project to help with the church's facilities.

Here's were we are staying!  Prayer Mountain is just a short ride from where we are serving. We are surrounded by a gorgeous landscape that constantly reminds of us how wonderful our creator is!

Right now(8:00pm Tuesday) we are getting ready to have worhsip, testimony time, and read comments that you have left on this blog.  This is a fun time to hear from our support back home.  Please leave us a comment below including you name.

  1. Wow... I am amazed over and over again. Each time I view the postings it warms my heart.... The blood is GROSS... but good hunting guys... The crafts in the children ministry is really great... I love the glasses... That has to be the largest game of soccer I have ever seen... Did you play with multiple balls? It looks like you guys are having fun in addition to the mission. The work you are doing is so AWESOME. Assisting with construction and the use of your medical knowledge will change these patient's lives. I hope they are able to have a lasting effect on you as well...

PRAYER MOUNTAIN... Now thats the life... How many are in each unit? I have soooo many questions about these living quarters... i know this is such a great experience...

Tana, I know you are enjoying yourself and continue to do so... I miss you much. I know you are having such a big effect with the population of Badplaas. I am praying for you each day and I really am excited for you ... I hope you come back with tons of stories...

    Love,
    Dominic

PS... I dont see any pictures with you on that zebra... Dont miss out on that experience ... :)

  3. Wish I was there! What an incredible time of worship! Roy, the boys miss you so much, especially Colin, but they are finding joy knowing that Daddy is sharing his love with other children in South Africa. We love you and pray that God is revealing Himself to you, the Team, and the people of South Africa.
    Much love,
    Angie Jacques

  5. All our family and Life Groups are praying for all of you! Can't wait for your safe return. Someone came up to me at church and asked "Where is "Ros?" (I am Ros). They quickly realized they meant Phyliss. After 40 years of marriage, I am beginning to realize what it means to be "as one". Anyway, "Baby Girl" is now 11 and checks this blog often. We all miss you!

To the "delight of my eyes"
Love, Ros (the other half of Phyliss Thornthwaite)

  6. I am sooo excited for my Tana-Mae! Can I just "ditto" everything Dominic wrote lol?

It is heart-warming to see you doing what you do best: loving, blessing, and healing! I am soooo proud of you, you are truly living on purpose with a purpose! And you get to go to Prayer Mountain, wow girl! The name alone is so ethereal. I'm truly amazed over here...

By the way, I took my test last Saturday!!! WhooHoo, God is faithful ;)

One last thing, I would LOVE a pair of those glasses to rock here in the States (I already have an outfit in mind to wear them with). Not sure if I will look as flyy as the cutie pie in the picture, but I don't mind being 2nd best lol

Please send love to McKenzie too! You two ladies are inspiring many.

Tons of love and prayers, Tiera

We are glad everything is going well....we miss you and I miss your texts. Sorry I can't give you a wake up call....I am typing now and I guess it's about 6am where you are. We love the pictures...gives us a good feel for where you are and what's going on...keep em coming. Love you Mimi....Mom and Dad.

  11. First time reading the entries, it took me awhile to figure it all out (Roy, you know tecnology is not my strong point). What exciting things going on in each of your lives! God is good and I pray that each of you are seeing Him work mightly in your life. Roy, I have been so moved in our prayer time with the boys. It is so awesome to hear the prayers of 3 and 4 year olds as they thank Him for taking you there to help others and they always ask Him to let you have fun, so I hope that's happening. We'll continue to keep you and the team in our prayers (continually day and night) and for the people that you are serving in His name. We love and miss you and are working back here on "what needs to be done." By the way, that's a great looking group you're with!

  12. Paying this Wednesday that you will receive all that God has intended for you. May you feel His love for you today.

    Roy,
Not sure if you've been on your hunting expedition yet, but what I saw from the guys picture from Tuesday was quite disturbing. LOL however, the boys kept requesting to see that picture and they said, "Mr. Phil has the most blood on him. Does that mean he killed the biggest animal?" I thought Phil might get a kick out of this.

Love to you all. It's such a joy to share this experience with you all through this blog and the pictures.

  14. We are very proud of the whole team! Thank you so much for sharing what ya'll are doing there with us through this blog. That in itself is amazing...over 8,000 miles away. The photo of the dental work with the hammer...very humbling. We are so fortunate to have what we have in the US and that we are able to share our resources and time to help this population. Makes us want to be there to help. We will continue to pray for all of you. We love and miss you Bryan, Jordan and Elise and can't wait to hear from ya'll in person about the amazing blessings to the population and to each of you as well. Love, Mom and Dad :-)

  16. Hi Anthony and Jessica-

    Today is Wednesday.
I love the pictures posted on this page. Neat huts! I pray you are both doing well. All is well here at home. Sammy said to tell you hello and that he is proud of you for doing God's work and being a blessing to others. I am too, of course!

I can't imagine you were one of those who went hunting ---- were you? If you were, I am reacting RIGHT NOW the same way I did the first time you were put into the game while playing football in middle school. :) .

Smokie says she has again been in touch with Miho. Miho is not a happy camper right now! He in fact has been thinking real hard about what he can do to REALLY grab your attention when you get home. Smokie said she is trying real hard to calm Miho down, although she does understand how Miho feels, and acknowledges she has done a few not so nice things herself when I have left her for a few days.

Well, it is getting ready storm here. Take lots of pictures and stay safe. I look forward to reading the next post and will write tomorrow.

    Love, Mom

  19. Well, Ryan, your facial "hunter-markings" can only be loved by a Mom & Dad...and perhaps a devoted wife (might need to confirm this with Aubrey!), but congratulations. I'm sure there is quite a story that goes along with your photo. We'll be eager to listen when you return. Aubrey, I know that you have probably already "adopted" some of the children and that they love being around you.

Many thanks to the group for all you are doing. Harmony Church in Sumter supports Rick and Elisabeth Arnold who work with the Soninke in Senegal, West Africa. While they have served many years, there have only been a few converts, but that hasn't stopped them from ministering. Perhaps you might find the same situation in Badplaas, but just remember the powerful source behind the seed you are sowing.

    Blessings to all,
    Fran & Jeremy Bauer

  20. Special Arizona greetings to all the special people in South Africa! Looks like you have been super busy doing the Lord's work! All those happy faces and I'm sure there have been tears also. Hope everyone is well and able to lift these people up to the Lord. Will be waiting patiently to hear how it is all going. May your strength be renewed with each day of service. Look forward to seeing Brook and Shannon hard at work. Thoroughly enjoy seeing all the pictures. Much love to all of you!!

  21. Lord, we ask for ABUNDANCE - Many in need to come to the clinic; many children to be blessed by the love of Jesus shown through team members that is planted in their precious minds forever; for team members-ABUNDANCE of personal energy, love, joy, patience, teamwork, strength, ability, compassion, kindness, understanding, precious time in Your presence in the midst of the flurry of activity, abundant supplies to care for all who come. May everyone offer You pliable, thankful hearts, receptive to hear how You are calling them to ongoing participation in the work You want accomplished during and after this trip.
We pray for the locals - SALVATION, abundance of leadership, ministry, health, provision, empowerment, gratefulness, growth in their love for You and others. In Jesus' name. Amen
